Plastic and raw material reduction.

Reduction starts at part design. When we partner with brands or individual clients, raw material selection and part dimensions center around specific part performance needs. At this stage, specific steps allow for material reduction in non-performance sections of the part. Additionally, material recommendations can direct clients toward materials that contain pre or post-consumer recycled materials. We only recommend the use of thermoplastics that are 100% recyclable. In short, our goal is that by intelligent part design, we eliminate unnecessary raw materials and reduce processing energy needs.

Packaging materials

When selecting package materials, the focus is first minimal, second natural, and third recyclable. We maintain a box return program that takes advantage of empty freight space on return trips from local factories. Boxes can be returned for full credit and re-used two or three times before recycling. Point-of-purchase packaging is designed with the goal of letting the product promote itself while allowing minimal quantities of natural and recyclable packaging materials provide effective display and protection.

QUALITY MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of Mountain Spring Products is to exceed our clients' expectations for product quality, service professionalism, prompt delivery and expenditure value. Therefore, we are committed to these core actions:

  1. Develop and act upon a complete understanding of our clients' needs and expectations.
  2. Develop and adhere to raw material, product, processing and packaging standards that meet the clients' needs, are of standard quality, are safe and are legal.
  3. Monitor key indicators and use their output to support continuing improvement in harmony with our compliance to ISO9001; 2008.
  4. Maintain the focus and training level of our entire workforce so as to achieve this quality mission.

SUSTAINABILITY

Mountain Spring Products is committed to sustainability. As an international company with a facility in China, we value the opportunity to lead by example. Our initiatives fall into five areas: 1.) Plastic and raw material reduction, 2.) Operational reduction of energy needs, 3.) Reduction of packaging material, 5.) Minimizing the potential release of pollutants to the local environment, 4.) Recycling of waste.

Each of these initiatives occupies the effort and time of everyone in our company. We foster a culture that focuses on reduction, the use of natural materials, the use of biodegradable materials and intelligent recycling.  A brief review of some of our initiatives is below.

ENERGY USE

With the selection of low energy lighting and efficient production equipment, our demand on the local electric grid is in harmony with our desire to have minimal impact on the environment. We support nearly 3,400 tons worth of injection equipment and our full service mold shop with only 600 KVA of electricity. This kind of efficiency is only possible with engineering and equipment purchases that focus on low power demand.  The same is true when making transportation and freight decisions. Vehicle size, route planning and trip consolidation are all planned around energy reduction.

RECYCLING

100% recycling is the goal and progress continues toward meeting it. Segregated recycling stations exist for no fewer than eight separate waste streams. This initiative is supplemented by a list of materials that vendors and employees are prohibited from bringing into our facility. The list includes many solvents, cleaners and chemicals and will soon include food service containers produced from foam or other non-recyclable materials.
